Your calculation on mileometer accuracy is very good, but does it take into
account tyre wear ???  Mileometers are usually set about 3-5% fast (within
the bounds of gearing accuracy) to take this into account.

As for the speedometer needle, ....... all very well except that the speedo
needle IS NOT DRIVEN BY GEARS but by a magnet - refer my previous e-mails. 
It will be quite some coincidence if there is a good correlationship
between the two at all speeds.
