Re: Non-Standard Tyre sizes

Dear Robert

Those who race Stags (Tony Hart) and several with TR4-6, all threw away the
trailing arm set-up because of unpredictabiliy, and not keeping sticky wide
tyres flat on the road. Good hard bushes or rose joints make
predictability better but make keeping footprint on the ground even more
difficult.

A racing type spherical top bearing on the Stag front strut would improve
driveability, but noise carry-over is high and the standard rubbers do a
lot of shock absorbing on their own, without the springs. Therfore a solid
mount is going to put lots of extra loading into the turrets.

However, there are some very badly bonded standard rubber mounts on the
market at the moment, so maybe your idea is the best compromise.
