Just took apart the remains of a '74 SII w/258 a couple weeks ago. Yes on
the input shaft stickout, same as all the other IH trannies I have. No on
the side mount bellhousing bosses. They went with the AMC side mounts and a
single tranny mount for the AMC installs.

727 with an AMC bolt pattern and a long tailshaft housing. You're prolly
right about matching the length of an SV setup, it sure looks like it.

I wish that were the case, but I just established a free market value of a
used 401 at $3-400. I'd have held on to them longer, but they were in the
way of storing *real* engines inside ;)
