[ihc] TOW RIG DIESEL ***Poll***
Well,
Spoke with my Dad and combined with your guys input i am leaning for a SRW 1
ton now. I still think i want the 4 door cab for dogs and extra goodies like
cooler and box of snacks as well as easy access stuff on road trips. Plus
when i am not towing i have a dry storage place for some stuff for small
trips.
Now here is some interesting news. My Dad is the Senior Research Guy for
Penn State Universities ARL (applied Research Lab) division. He mainly works
on sonar and Torpedo stuff for the Navy, but the Lab sees some interesting
jobs. One of those was last year testing the diesels and the engines in
Light duty trucks. They did all kinds of nasty stuff to them and the Chevy
Duramax and Allison tranny came out on top. One test they washed down the
tranny with Acetone and then ran it dry for extended periods of time with a
load and it held up fine....WOW :) that's a Tranny. Corse we knew the
Allison was a bad boy tranny. So would that be just as good as a 5-6 speed?
I would not consider any other Auto at this time.
So if ya had a choice lets poll the audience:
1. 2wd 1 Ton 4 door SRW 8 foot bed with Diesel 5-6speed
2. 2wd 1 Ton 4 door SRW 8 foot bed with Diesel Auto
3. 2wd 1 Ton 4 door SRW 6 foot bed with Diesel 5-6speed
4. 2wd 1 Ton 4 door SRW 6 foot bed with Diesel auto
5. 2wd 1 Ton Extended Cab 8 foot bed with Diesel 5-6speed
6. 2wd 1 Ton Extended Cab 8 foot bed with Diesel Auto
7. 2wd 1 Ton Extended Cab 6 foot bed with Diesel 5-6speed
8. 2wd 1 Ton Extended Cab 6 foot bed with Diesel Auto
Lets hear is and this most likely will be used due to the $10-15,000
difference in a 1999-2003 models
