Steinbeck's truck "Travels With Charley(?)"
Yep. It was a then-brand-spankin'-new GMC 3/4 ton with a V6 and
a frame mounted camper. It's been restored and is at the
Steinbeck center in Salinas, CA. If he'd chosen an IH, it might
not have broken down.
Binders in Books... there was a fine, tough, D-series T'All in the
apocalyptic sci-fi novel, "Lucifer's Hammer" (Niven?) It saved the day on
more than one occasion. Anyone else seen an IH featured in a work of
fiction? I can't think of any others...
Lucifer's Hammer, Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. They also wrote Footfall.

Or there is Harly's "Lucifer's Hammer," riden by Jay Springsteen.

A Scout II saves the heroes in The Mist, a short story published in Skeleton Crew, a collection of short stories by Stephen King.

Not much of a King fan, but found the collection among books at home, and by reading it, pretty much proved that I'll read almost anything.

IIRC, King owned (or still owns) a Scout II.
