I liked reading this! Through negligence, I did the same thing to my '67
T'All rear drums. And, more because I couldn't find replacements out here
than anything else, I left them that way when I did the brakes last fall. I
told myself that due to the extra surface area created by the grooves, I
would have better braking, if anything. Yeah, that's the ticket! A design
feature! I didn't *really* believe it, but felt good to think it. I can't
say I've noticed any increased brake performance, but haven't driven it much
during the ongoing resurrection process, so more on that later. Bottom
line - it's great to hear that someone else, both older and wiser than me,
has done the same thing, and gotten so many good miles and satisfactory
performance to boot. If I'm not mistaken, you hauled a fair amount of
trailer weight with yours, too. Right? Maybe we should all run our rivets
into the drums on purpose! (ha ha...) This makes my day. Thanks, John. ~John
