Re: [ihc] reverse switch retrofit?

My 2":
The thing I would do is get a microswitch from the hardware store, build
a small bracket to mount on the transmission shifter tower, and mount the
switch on that so that it is actuated when the stick is moved to the
Reverse position. Subtle, functional, cheap, easy to install, does not
require any driver input (other than the shifting he is doing already),
does not require hacking or modifying existing parts, and does not look
butch. To my way of thinking, a toggle switch will work after a fashion,
but looks out of place, requires drilling, has the potential to be left
on while driving, and requires the driver to switch on and off when you
shift back and forth. One could go the other way, and put several fog
lamps on the rear for back-up lights, or to illuminate the ground behind
you for whatever work you might need done. In that case, I would put in
a relay, and an illuminated toggle on a panel with the additional
switches for the front fog lights, the ARB, the cargo light, oil
accumulator solenoid valve, electric air pump, and whatever else was
installed on the truck. If the reverse light switch was the only one on
the truck though, then I would stick with the microswitch.

Put in a toggle switch.... really easy!
