By deeper reach do you mean the electrode extends further into the
combustion chamber or are you referring to how far back into the plug
the ceramic insulator extends?
I ask because the second is the standard method of varying the heat
range. The longer the cermaic insulator(and thus the electrode), the
hotter the plug because the heat of compression/combustion must
"travel" further before it is dissipated. The shorter the insulator,
the colder the plug.
I'm curious if the 85s and 303s have the electrode and ground strap
placed differently in relation to the chamber(aside from what indexing
provides).
