RE: [ihc] Going Up!

I've heard that the stock drive shafts will work but mine are bad now. I
can get about 1/4" of wobble out of the rear slip joint and for some reason
the front is even worse. This translates into a lot of vibration and is
limiting the Scout to lower speed local trips right now.

I also may just end up using a stock power steering box but want to look at
my options once the lift is all done. Considering that I will have 6 inches
of additional vertical distance between the steering shaft input and the
pitman arm relationship to the axle over stock I may find a box that will
work better out of some other vehicle. Since I do not have one already I
can go in several directions. Its good to hear that stock works with the 4
inch lift. It keeps that option open too.

Thanks for the input.

Pete

I have stock shafts with my triangles?

My steering geometry seems fine to me with a stock box.

Just as a general note... my service manual specs the dana front ends as
having 1 degree of castor. Of course it then says acceptable range is +/-1
degree, but anyway.... yeah, doesn't really help.

I think 3 or 4 degrees would be good, but that's just me and I'm fine with
my scout's stock caster too...

I got mine from SSS, don't know if they are the most economical place
though, probobly also depends on where you live to see if you can save on
shipping.
