[ihc] My SII/800 project, questions
Digesters,
Im building a woods only project truck with a 76 SII frame/axles with a stock
SII V8 bellhousing/3 speed and D20. It has no engine or body.
This will be mated to a 70 800 V8 body.
I also have a rusted out mid 60s 800 with a stock 152/3 speed/D18 combo in
it.
I want to use the 152 in the project truck because I have it. I will regear
very low to compensate for the low power of the 152.
I know I can bolt the 152 to the SII V8 bellhousing. This should allow me to
use the SII V8 three speed and the SII D20. IIRC, the deeper V8 bell will
compensate for the longer input shaft on the SII 3 speed. I should also be able to
use the 152 clutch/pp.
Looking at the 152, it appears that I can bolt a set of SII SV V8 motor mount
brackets on the engine to bolt it down to the V8 brackets on the SII frame.
I realize that this will tilt the 152 back over and produce a leaning carb. I
can fab an angled adapter to straighten the carb, and use an aftermarket air
cleaner.
It should otherwise bolt right in, right?
Am I forgetting anything?
Any comments or ideas would be appreciated.
