When you are dealing with brake lines you do need a good flare tool, and some practice with it. They do pay in the long run, becasue you can just buy a roll of brake line and cut and flare to the proper lengths. I'm honestly not sure what brand mine is, I bought it a long time ago and use it all the time, wasn't cheap, but still affordable....

 I agree that a flare tool isn't that expensive, but
 don't buy an el-cheapo either. Get a name brand tool,
 like Lisle or even K-D has one I think, and their
 tools aren't too bad. If you have more money than
 common sense, get an OTC.

Agreed....  I don't know what mine is, probobly the cheapo one.  I also
bought a tubing cutter and it works nicely.  I don't really know what I'm
doing with the flare tool though so the double flare ends up looking like a
piece of tubing with a bulge in it.. which works out since it still
accomplishes what I want to do without having any exposed edges.
