[ihc] More carb, linkage questions

OK, guys, more questions on the Weber 2 barrel conversion.

I called Jam Engineering today (thanks for the tip, Gregg), and
surprisingly the guy knew more about 152's and 196's than he did 258's.
He seemed to think the Weber 32/36 progressive 2 barrel carb would be
underpowered for my truck. After explaining what I use the truck for,
he backed off that and seemed to think it would be OK. (He was thinking
the 38/38 synchronous would be better since the 32/36 was being used on
152s and 196s.)

The Weber 32/26 is a 300-330 CFM carb (I've seen both numbers listed,
and I can't remember which number I trusted more. But I digress) and I
was wondering what the cfm rating of the stock 1 barrel carb was. I
skimmed through the IHC service manual and didn't see it listed. Any
other resources? Everything I've read says that the 32/36 is great for
this application, but it can't hurt to double check.

Now, auto tranny kickdown linkage. This needs to be taken care of.
Changing the carb means that I'll have to change the linkage. I know I
have rods now, but I don't know exactly how it's set up. How do I
determine this, and how hard will it be to correctly modify it?

Which leads to my last (for now) question. I am an automotive bozo. I
admit it, I don't deny it, and I have no illusions about it. Also,
despite being a mailman, I have a college degree in math (did it in 3
1/2 years, largely because I didn't think of getting out early until
halfway through my junior year.) so I wouldn't consider myself an
idiot. Just untrained. How hard would any of this be for me to
accomplish?

Thanks,

Dave
