Re: [ihc] Fuel Tank Question
---On my `73 Scout, there is a Liquid/Vapor Separator in panel behind the
spare wheel. The gas tank has one vent and one filler fitting the two most
obvious and one fitting for the L/V Separator, along with the pickup fitting
on the sending unit. I have eliminated the charcoal canister for the time
being, but left the line that runs from the canister to the L/V Separator.
---The gas tank has the one fitting that runs to the bottom fitting on the
L/V Separator.
---The charcoal canister under the hood has a fitting for:
-1) purge
-2) tank
-3) carb/vent
---The connections are:
-1) manifold vacuum source via a "T" fitting. One fitting on the "T" has a
pinhole sized orifice. That's the purge fitting
-2) from the top fitting on the L/V Separator
-3) Fuel bowl vent
---The system allows for expansion of gases due to say, parking the truck in
the sun, to turn gasses into liquid and return them to the tank, and use
vapors stored in the charcoal canister to help start the vehicle when cold
and/or the carb is dry.
---What did you use to re-line your tank? I put out the extra $8.oo (roughly
$38) for POR's U.S. Standard Fuel Tank Sealer (combo package). I just sealed
mine about 2 mos. ago.
