I think my problem was that nothing worked, so I just re-wired in a separate 
switch.  It's nice to be able to switch on white lights in the back during 
night runs.   Also, It's nice to find out you are in gear when you started it up.
When I have it re-built, I will also have that part/linkage replaced.  I will 
keep the light switch though.
