---I would say that it sounds like the shifter or linkages need to be
adjusted. I have not looked into the automatic transmission on the Scouts,
mainly because my transmission is manual, but most transmission shifters are
adjusted with a simple loosening of a bolt or two, the insertion of a drill
bit and the tightening of the bolt(s). That is what it sounds like to me, a
shifter out of adjustment, or a loose shifter/linkage.
