RE: [ihc] 13" clutches ...I think it is possible

John,

It's made by Mystic. It's called
	Mystic Synthetic
	SX-7000 SAE 50 wt
	Lubrication Oil
	Product Code is 663515002031
Says on the label it's approved for Eaton, Rockwell, and Road Ranger
extended warrantees.

Steve,

Yeah, looks like my brain is running some pretty thick grease, also.
I read from some of you guys about running 50wt, and had already made
up my mind to do that, just hadn't gotten around to it. (It's been a
bit cold here...) So why was I running off at the mouth about a problem
that I had already determined how to fix? Wish I could go to a lighter
weight lube for the old (and getting older...) brain case as well.

This stuff you use, that looks and smells like Mercon... what's it
called?

Thanks,
-John

That's cold grease in the tranny that's killing your engine. You should
have 50 wt engine oil in the tranny. That helps some.

I found some tranny oil that's used in over the road rigs. Looks & smells
for all the world like heavy wt Mercon. I use it in my PowerStroke manual.
Might be just the ticket for the manual trannys in Scouts. It doesn't get
so thick in the winter.

I agree with Dan. I have the 12", 12 spring in my T'All, and one time
after a backpacking injury to my knee, a slight strain - nothing very
serious, I couldn't drive my truck for a week... Another consideration:
When it's very cold, I have to sit there with the clutch depressed
during engine warm-up for a couple of minutes. If I let it out too soon,
it will kill the engine. I always figured that was due to the size
and weight of the assembly (but could be wrong - do you all have this
problem?). On another side note: after I get the engine and the clutch
going OK, I then warm up the tranny with the t-case in neutral. It can
take me 30 minutes to warm up my truck in the winter!

Rocky,
You sure can fit the 13" clutch in there, but; it sure is a bear to
push the pedal in with it! The 12" is pretty tight as it is, the 13's,
especially when new, are really stiff.
