But then why was the parking pawl trying to engage when park was selected?
And if park was nuetral, that still doesn't explain the other positions
doing what they do.  BTW, if park was nuetral, wouldn't the output not be
turning, instead of turning as it does?   If reverse was nuetral, the rpm
drop shouldn't have happened (and it was the largest rpm drop of any of the
positions).   I can take care of the posibility of the shifting linkage
being mis adjusted by removing it and shifting the transmission by hand, but
I'm not really convinced it'll help any.
