Not sure why I didn't finish my reply the first time.  

The ratio is stamped in the end of the pinion, really small and hard to
see even when clean. This I know to be true.

Open or Detroit no-slip (locker) were the options I hear, no Limited
slip offered.

Greg is the man to answer about heavy axles, he knows a lot and has a
few theories about making an RA-15 into 2 speed using RA20 parts.

When people say an IH lite line has a Rockwell, they mean an RA-15.  My
understanding is that these axles were a Rockwell design and patent that
IH paid to have the rights to produce for their use.  So they really are
a Rockwell, made by IH for IH.  

Anyone feel free to correct me if I what I'm saying is wrong.

I would greatly appreciate some info on this type rear. Any help to any
of these questions would be great. First I need to know how to ID the
ratio without pulling the stump. Was there a tag somewhere on these or
was it stamped in somewhere on the housing? Next, I need to know what
kind of carriers were used in these. Was there a locker available or
were they all limited slip or open? Was this the heaviest axle IH
offered in an 8 lug pattern or was there a RA20 with 8 lugs? Finally, I
have seen Rockwell mentioned on ads for other 1 tons. Are these in
actuality built by Rockwell? TIA!
