---What I have found in two of the sending units I have torn down, is that
the contact on the brass tab has had a hole worn in it that would catch on
the spring (rheostat). It caused different readings even when I hadn't
changed anything, depending on how fast I moved the float up or down. But
this is on a standard tank, not a 33gal.
