[ihc] Re:The Bulletin, and Bill T's progress....
Mac and all;
Hooked up with Bill T. last night on his way through Indiana and had coffee
and a lengthy chat session at one of the Toll Road 'pit stops'. So far his
trip has been pretty uneventful, and he is 'thinking' he may be able to
complete it today (although he will have to push to get it done). I think he
was going to spend the night in South Bend IN., get a few hours sleep and push
on. Luckily Notre Dame is playing football at Purdue instead of the reverse,
so motel rooms should have been available and probably at a decent price. I
did talk to Bill a little about the BB changeover and all, and the way I
understand it as a pretty much non-computer person, the 'old' Tech Talk and
the V Bulletin are now being housed on different servers. Jeff Bade has the V
Bulletin stuff on his equipment; due to time constraints, and the old TT using
a totally different protocol from VB, Bill transferred it over to rented space
he had kept for 'Binderbulletin.net' on an out of town server, maybe in Kansas
City? So, kind of from what Bill said, and reading Mac's supposition, I would
guess that Mac is probably real close if not right on with his theory. As I
said, I didn't get into the situation in depth with Bill cause it would have
been like trying to discuss brain surgery for me, but I 'THINK' that
eventually the 'old' TT will also be migrated to Jeff B's server. I hope so,
seems like VB is working great for me now, but the old TT is iffy- I get a
'server error' message more often than not when I try to access it, and the
access time seems way slow. I guess that's a minor problem though, I could be
in Bill's shoes and be having to drive 2/3 of the way across the country
pulling a trailer with a Scout II, a dirtbike, and a license plate falling
off.....
