try this;

take the fuel line off the carb and wrap it up with a rag and turn the engine 
over for maybe five seconds. IF the fuel pump works the rag should be soaked. 
If the rag is only a tiny bit wet then replace the fuel pump. Fuel should 
spray out of the line when its unattached. But try not to start a fire. Fire very 
very bad
