Yes, Ryan it is a Scout II.  And everyone else (Ryan,Steve, Mac, etc.) thanks
for the replies.  I did well in abstract algebra, number theory, and that stuff
back in college, but Scout maintainence is something new to me.

As I understand this setup, you can roughly adjust each side independently.  By
removing the cotter pin, disconnecting the tie rod end from the knuckle,
adjusting the end 1 full turn (either in or out) and reconnecting the whole
setup.  A pain in the butt?  Absolutely, which is why I didn't insist on it.

(I doubt if it makes a difference, but I do have a 2WD so my steering setup
might be slightly different from the 4WD most of you guys seem to have.)

As for the steering wheel not being centered, yes it is annoying.  But I'm
getting used to it already.  In a few days I should know instinctively where
center is.
