Hi All,

Read the forwarded message below...  The message forwarded below is from a
Travelall owning friend.  I'm trying to get him subscribed to, and active on
the digest. Meanwhile... Any words of wisdom on his ring/valve questions are
greatly appreciated.  Think Northern would be good for his purposes?  I know
nothing of the Hastings kit.

As for his grill hardware, I'd recommend he simply  pull a screw or two
(assuming they're all the same type), and take 'em in to NAPA or the local
hardware store.  I doubt they're anything too exotic/odd.  If he can't
unscrew 1 or 2 of 'em due to rust, maybe I need to turn him on to PB
Blaster...

All help re the ring/valve questions are greatly appreciated.  He's over my
head.

Pete's personal IH prob:  I'm collecting info on power steering pumps.  Am I
correct in my thinking/opinion that they are bascially the same quality
regardless of price paid?  Is NAPA *really* better than Autozone's, etc.?
Mine is leaking like a stuck pig (about 1 bottle every 36 hrs).  I can't SEE
any loose connectors/fittings.  SEEMS to be leaking out of the pulley area
(is this possible?).  The STP seal conditioner stuff leaks as well as the
generic 'house brand' plain-ol'-fluid.

How are you and the family and of course the SCOUT?  All is well here and
have a little time to work on my Travelall 4wd.

It appears the rings are shot on the passenger side bank of the 392.  I went
to my local parts house to see about ring kit and also to get valves ground.
The local parts house was not very useful but did think I needed Hastings #
6302 ring kit.  I was just wondering if you had any ideas on rings/valve
grind for me on the 392 V8?  I also purchased a new grille for my '72 and
the screws are rusty.  (Seem to be 1/4" thread).  Do you know where I can
purchase about 1 dozen of these screws?
