have the means to weld and I was not about to take my "Yankee" butt to a
"redneck" garage and ask them to weld me a bracket onto a piece of tubing.
Chances are they would have burned through the tubing just to tick me off.

---Actually, the original dipstick worked just fine in the 22r dipstick
tube. Welded or not, it fits snugly in the pan and with a few adjustments
before tightening down the clamp (1/4" piece of stock), it reads right on
the money and is held down real well.
