Diamond aluminum bed box

Well I have and idae to run by you guys. I have a diamond plate aluminum
bed box I got from a recent buy sell truck. I measured it and if I cut it
in half it will fit sid by side between the fender rails. I would then weld
an sheet on the back side. It will esentially give me two lockable bed
boxes that I can take out at the campsite and use as seats/cooking surface.
I would put some eyelets on there to chain it to a tree and then I could go
wheeling with a relative safty factor of leaving my stuff at basecamp. This
bed box is of the end opening design with two doors. One on each side. 

So Does this sound like an idea worth doing or should I just sell the box
to one of you that has a pickup?
