I just heard on NPR an update on SUV bumper testing.

Turns out that 4 out of 6 1999 SUVs incurred more than $5000 in damage from
a 5-mph frontal collision.

I think that they did multiple collisions per vehicle, and I don't think
that any collisions cost less than $2000.

Great.  Keep your new SUV for 100,000 miles, and then get it totaled by
hitting a shopping cart...
