Re: Custom Radiator Mount

Tom,
Your idea sounds pretty good, I would make a frame, basically a core support to replace the origanl function of the front of the inner fenders. I would take a piece of channel to bridge the frame rails at the bottom of the rad. between the front body mounts, two rails up either side of the rad., Triangle braces back down to the body mounts, and another cross member at the top. Two tubes at the top of the triangles back to the corners of the fire wall will keep it straight up. I think I would opt for a remote mounted electric fan too, keep the horsepower for the tires.:)
And for the channel iron, I would have some bent out of 14ga. steel instead of using real channel iron, too heavy, you'll have enough weight up there, you don't need to be adding to it. A local welder should have a steel break and be able to hook you up pretty cheap, he'll probably even cut them to the lengths you need if you give him (her) the specs you want.
Food for thought worth less than $.02
