Sounds like you got a good one!

Rag joint or steering box could cause sloppy steering.  Is it lifted?  If
so, then there's other issues - like caster.

BTW, I've had great luck with a delco starter with the heftier spring.  I
don't know how to identify them, but some mechanics apparently do.  I think
it's the cheapest way around the hot start issue.
