Funny ignition quirk

Ok, I was researching my 'miss' on the '73 304 Scout
this weekend and found something very strange:
  I ground out the plug wires one by one and got idle
drop/difference in some but not others.
  I'll try my hand at an ASCI picture----
              Cylinder #'s

            G 1          B 2

            B 3          G 4

            B 5          G 6

            G 7          B 8
G= noticable drop in idle
B= no difference

Now here's the funny (strange, most certainly not
haha)
My brother-in-law suggested crossing this information
against the firing order and here's what I got:

  1G 8B 4G 3B 6G 5B 7G 2B
Wow! Notice a pattern?
I replaced the coil with a spare the PO gave me with
the truck, but no difference.
 What do I do now? Checks to make?
Thanks,
Russ
