Re: IC Modifications

The aliens commander decided Michael_Thompson@domain.elided would make a
perfect specimen for dissection, and he yelled...

>I was looking at the heads on my 392 and I had a thought. Could you use 345
>heads on a IC 392 if you grafted the water tubes together?

Nope! The block and head configurations are different enough that you
cannot get a proper water jacket seal with commercially available head
gaskets. I don't think it would be impossible to *convert* an IC block to
be compatible with the non-IC heads, but it would require welding and
machining. The water tube is the least of your troubles in this case!

The Binder Bulletin had an article I wrote on this along with pictures
showing the differences between the blocks and heads a couple of issues
back. You can contact Bill Thebert (www.binderbulletin.com) to possibly
get a reprint.

Have fun,

John L.
