Towing/higher octane and dwell

       Will higher octane and the above adjustment help the pinging
       with a 345/thermo quad, under heavy tow loads.  In 4 wheel
       drive I had pinging occuring  at 50 -55 mph , could not keep
       speed up on hills e.g. 60.    This was done at sea level with a
       3000# load,  It also took a long time to get up to 55.   Any
       suggestions?  Did not have the smog pump hooked up.
