I'm actually sort of caught up.  Embarrasing!

Wankels are fine but have nothing to really distinguish them from recips.
Fuel efficiency is a bit worse. Higher surface to volume ratio in the
combustion area giving a bit worse smog performance.  I think the tip and
side seals have been solved.

No real significance except they're smaller than an equivalent piston
engine.
