Another trick you can do to make them a LOT stronger--

Use the studs. Go to the parts store and pick out a "cone-lock"--the piece
that is used on full floater rear axle flange studs to keep them tight--
buy enough cone locks to do your job. and measure the taper angle of the
cone locks you bought. Order a custom tapered mill to this taper angle
(about $70). Use the mill to ream the holes in your hubs to accept the
cone-locks. Assemble. I like to use a hard steel AN style washer nest to
the cone lock, then a crimped, all metal vibration nut (which can be bought
at the same aircraft hardware joint where you got the washers!) (Use
Loktite stud lock for installing the studs.) Another approach to not coming
loose is to use a regular Grade 8 nut, and then either a thin pattern jam
nut, or a sheet-metal palmutter nut to lock the nuts tightly to the studs.

Warn actually built (at least) one model of stud mounted hub meant to be
used with cone locks design--the M-148, as used on 70F's on later W-300
Dogs and '69 and later 1300's. These hubs DO NOT come loose!

IMO a better, stronger design than the internal, splined type hubs.
