Exotic cleaners
Bob, Tom, Greg, Michael, and whomever,
Call me chicken, but it makes me nervous to think about using straight
diesel, or straight kerosene, or diesel and xylene to flush out the
lubricating system. I think if I were doing it, I'd have a quart of
synthetic oil mixed in with the solvent to reassure me that there was
some real lubricant in there while I was cleaning. I'd use the
synthetic because of its ability to maintain its own properties even
while being diluted by the solvents.
What do you guys think about that?

Don't be a wimp. Try this one. Drain ALL the oil, refill with
kerosene,
drive 100 miles or so, drain kerosene, change filter, refill with oil,
drive 100 miles, change filter.
Did this with a Pontiac back before you were born (1972) ;^b
