Consider trying to do what IH did--see if you can find a large frame Leece
Neville off of something like a 1600 school bus. Haven't really tried it
yet, but it MIGHT even clear the hood on the T'all if you use the brackets
from the 1600 mounting. These alternators can be built to make up to 290
amps at 12 Volts. A small frame Leece will go where a stock Delco mounts,
and give not quite such impressive output, but lots better.

A Leece alternator is to a Delco as a Binder motor is to a Chebby in terms
of durability.
