Only when winching backwards.. but that's no different than any 
rear-winch operation.

I'm pretty sure he'll pick a "line" to run the cable through that won't 
cause abrasion on the cable or open it up to undue damage opportunities..

It's all in how you engineer the thing! ;-)

I haven't looked to see how it would work on a *Scout II*, but on his 
Ford, I'm sure he'll mount the winch under his custom (high) flat bed and 
run the cable just under the cab and along the motor or so.. up high, not 
low.
