Where's Reverse?

Help!

I had the "Spinning Gear Shift Lever" problem earlier this weekend.
After receiving some good advice from some digesters, I replaced the pin
that goes in the ball-and-socket joint that had snapped. I put things
back together, and now it will definitely NOT go into reverse.
It had a very loose pedal before this incident, but it always engaged,
and was no harder to get into R than it was into 1-4. Now I have
plenty of 1-4, but no R. The guy I got it from said that this needed to
be adjusted down on the tranny. I have no idea how to do this, and have
always just adjusted by using the "turnbuckle" adjuster under the dash
for the pedal linkage.
The clutch was not slipping before, and there was never any indication
that R was going out. Any ideas? Did I install the pin wrong? It
appeared to go right in the way it came out of my '68 w/same setup
(345/4X4/4-Speed).

Help!

Michael
