Tie rod fabrication

Digesters,

I unintentionally modified my tie rod into a lovely u shape with the assistance
of a rather large stump. Rather than replace it with another like piece I am
considering making my own.  I went to the local metal mart and found solid
chromoly rod and Summit sells heim joints to hold it all together.  My question
is, my stock rod has an indention to accommodate the front pumpkin, if I fab up
a super strong replacement will this cause it to come in contact with the diff
at full turn?
