Tachometer

All right guys,
Its been awhile, but I need some info.  I have a 1980 Scout II, with the
Nissan Diesel.
Want to install a tachometer. Can this be done? Where would you attach the
wires, since there is no coil? Which is the best to buy? I'm sure that if I
look back on the 300+ digest that I have stored on my hard drive, that this
question is there somewhere, but I didn't have time to read them then, and
things are still crazy.
