LEGISLATIVE ALERT
Virginia Introduces Inoperable Vehicle Bill
A bill (S.B. 1326) has been introduced in the Virginia
legislature that would allow certain local areas to prohibit the storage
of inoperable vehicles on residential, commercial or agricultural
property. The bill also allows local officials to remove and dispose of
an inoperable vehicle after "reasonable notice" to the owner. The bill
does not apply to vehicles that are completely enclosed within building
or structure or shielded from public view. The bill does allow local
areas to limit the number of inoperable vehicles that can be kept
outside of an enclosed building.
We Urge You to Contact Your State Legislators in Opposition to This Bill

S.B. 1326 establishes unreasonable provisions that vehicles be locked
away and invisible.
S.B. 1326 empowers local officials to remove vehicles from private
property without making clear what constitutes "reasonable notice."
S.B. 1326 allows local officials to limit the number of inoperable
vehicles that individuals can keep on their property.
S.B. 1326 demonstrates a lack of understanding of the vehicle hobby and
the rights of hobbyists.
Contact your state legislators in opposition to this proposed
legislation. This bill tramples on the rights of vehicle enthusiasts and
