Carb Rebuild

Is rebuilding a Holley 1904 single barrel carb something a novice should
attempt, or is it a case of if you have to ask......?

Finally got the 152 to turn over (after replacing the starter, it turned
out that the battery cable was bad, doh!. Oh well, the starter shaft
did have a lot of play in it.) My carb has a broken accelerator pump
cam and is leaking gas from the underside of its body at an alarming
rate. Before we decided to deal with the carb before proceeding, the
engine acually started for a moment, the first time in about eight
years!

NAPA can special order a rebuilt Holley 1904 for $164.00 with exchange.
I haven't yet priced a rebuilt kit. I don't know of anybody local to do
a rebuild for me, although I'm sure they're around.

Any advice? I have two carbs and had intended to try my hand at a
rebuild with the leftover carb anyway. What's a fair price for a
rebuild? How about a new carb? Can anyone recommend a vendor for a new
one?

Thanks,

Chad Sibert
