problems

Dan,
I wonder if some of the mud clogged up some of your oil passages up to the head.  Valves get hot, start to stick, then you start to get some lifter noise plus excessive smoke.  One possible scenario.?.?.  Hope its not the case.  pull the valve covers and make sure everything is moving freely and there's not lots of goop in there.
