Scout find

Okay-sounds like the Crewcab conversion is too much work, so I shall
save that one for when I am a rich successful something-or-other and pay
someone else to do it!
So I went and looked at a '79 Scout tonight and it was quite fun. The
body is RUFF! but not rusty. It was a family driver and when the son
got to high school, the family turned it over to him to play with in
shop class. Well, he lost interest at some point, so it is primer gray,
with some very poor body work of some sort on the right front fender,
the right door was very out of whack at one time. It is better now, but
buckled up where it meets the front fender. All body mounts are solid
and floors are very rust-free. Top is in good condition, and has a full
roll cage, push bar on the front bumper, Interior is pretty nice, has
added insulation overhead. 345 that truly purrs, though I think the
carb is set a little funny-idles very fast! Automatic Tranny, 2-speed
TC, and a working radio-though not stock. Runs very nice, and after
riding in mine for the past several months, with practically no body
mounts-the body just kind of bounces around on the frame! This one
rides like a Lincoln! I talked to the guy and he'll take $800.00 I
think this is finally a nice enough one to actually build from. Does
that sound reasonable? They were asking $1000.00 and I offerec $800.00
and he said he would take it. I hate when they accept my first offer,
usually makes me think they would have taken less. Anyway, any input?
Oh, yeah, has about 75% left on "Trail T/A's". Is also registered for
'99.
Sound like a good deal? It will be the last of my money that I had
scrounged up, but I figure I can start to sell of/trade my other Scout
II, T'all and Wagonmaster for other parts/ accessories to finish
cleaning this one up. ANy input?

Michael
