Reminds me of when I changed the clutch on my Luv. Put it all back
together.. now to fill the 4spd transmission... my first problem was I
removed the wrong bolt.. didn't know it until a year later.. but that
*wasn't* the fill plug... anyhow, I couldn't get at the fill hole, so
the only way I could figure it out... put a small funnel in the "fill
hole" (again, it wasn't), and run a larger funnel and hose from the
engine bay.. hold the hose into the little funnel. Of course, I
couldn't pour the oil *and* hold the funnels at the transmission.. so I
asked my brother to help.

The 4spd in the Luv takes straight 30wt non-detergent.

Did I mention it's -20, and I'm on my back on a concrete floor?
T-shirt, turtle neck, sweatshirt, old leather jacket, and my
non-insulated coveralls (among other clothes!) (this was Pre-Arctic
Carharts for Christmas time)

I got my brother to help me... "Just pour this quart of oil in this
funnel" as I crawl back underneath.. "How much should I pour?" "We're
going to put it all in" I said like he should know what I was talking
about already... sheesh.

Well.. you might imagine, I started noticing oil overflowing the smaller
funnel.. and running down my outstretched arm... then down my sleeve...
and onto my back. My faithful brother had, naturally, poured the entire
quart at once!

I crawled out from under the Luv and made my way into the house.. and
stood there, arms outstretched, with an ugly look on my face... "Mom!!
*Help me*"

She looked at me.. and as my arm drooped down a little, oil began
running from my sleeve and onto the floor!

several shirts - ruined. Sweatshirt - ruined. Leather Jacket - only
recently has it become wearable.. and it still smells like oil..
coveralls got washed.

Of course.. I had NO coveralls or warm "work clothes" to *finish* the
job with.. that was fun...

Ahhh.. the good old days.

-Tom
