PCV valves

Binders,

While I currently have a leaky rear main seal, it was suggested to me today
that a clogged PCV valve could cause oil in the crankcase to be pushed past
the rear main. Makes sense to me. So I got on the phone with my local
IH-friendly parts store, but they were unable to dig up a part number for
the PCV valve. Are these valves generic among manufacturers? I just took a
look at mine, and it may be clogged (wishful thinking?) - I stopped short of
sucking on it. While I don't expect a new PCV valve to cure my leak, it's
worth trying. Does anyone have a part number, or an explanation for a PCV
rookie? (Truck config = '79 Scout w/ 345.)

Thanks for any suggestions.
