Re: More news on the Scout II

Hi Luke,
Let me put this to you honestly.
No, No, No, No, No. (hehe)
Okay,
First off, there is rust on this Scout. Second, with no top, I can't see you
driving this in the winter, especially if you live in the Denver area.
Third, it has a Eldebrock 4 barrel carb on it, so it's at least a 345 V8. So
the carb alone wouldn't pass the visual for smog.
Dummy me I didn't check to see if it is a 4 speed or a 5 speed. I looked at
the engine today, did see that it does have an excell super coil, power
brakes, powersteering, disc brakes,
Today I saw some "holes" in the tub behind the driver's seat. So there is
definately rust.
My thoughts is that this Scout II would be a great "fun" truck to take out
on sunny days and play in the mud, rocks, and stuff, without the worry of
banging it up. Being that it is a leaf over conversion, I don't know if I
would trust it as a daily driver, especially not having driven it.
OR, this Scout could probably be a great parts venture. Anywhere from tires,
springs, axles, tc, tranny, new clutch, 345 V8, powersteering, powerbrakes,
disc brakes, roll bar, etc.... you could have a cool ride if you found
another "stock" Scout with a blown motor, or a blown rear end. It's a
thought.
I actually wanted to buy it so I could "convert" my Scout 800 to
powersteering, 345 v8, disc brakes, etc, but we are currently in the middle
of "a move" so money is tight. Darn!! Oh well.
