Re: lifts

My suggestion is this....the guidelines in the binder bulletin are not
necessarily written in stone, although they ARE made up from actual Scout
owners who have sweated through the pains of up-sizing suspension. 3
inches of body lift might help clear things a little better, but you still
may have to do some trimming of the fenders to make everything fit. Body
lifts also create other engineering debacles that you will have to tackle
(i.e. fan shroud, brake lines, electrical connections, steering linkage,
centre of gravity changes.) Remember, it's not just the height of the
tires you are using that are creating all the problems...you will find the
actual WIDTH of the tire will play as much havok with clearance as the
overall height will.

I do recommend the 4inch suspension lift for two reasons. One, it helps
give alot more travel to your current stock setup ( I assume). Two, and
more importantly, it will force you to look at all of your bushings, brake
lines, springs, perches, shackles, etc. and remind you that you are ALSO
adding quite alot more stress onto your suspension due to your big tires
that the engineers at IH never really planned for (some will argue this is
not true, but keep in mind that some of the tires we have access to today
were not in existence back then for consumer purchase.) You CAN'T go wrong
doing this.

: The lift FAQ on the Binder Bulletin says that to run 35" tires I need a

: Q? Can I put on a 2" or 3" body lift and not trim the fenders? Note that
I
