(almost) Bought Another Scout!

I got an email today from a friend in Bozeman.. he mentioned another
friend of ours (that runs a 4x4 shop) acquired a '74 Scout II recently
that he's not real interested in keeping...

Run home from work and grab the phone... "Hi, Mike, Tom.. I hear you have
a Scout in your posession..."

The scoop:

Mike had done some work on this Scout for the kid that owned it. Kid
drove it every day (only rig).. got creamed head-on by a Ford pickup and
the insurance totaled it ($1800 I think) and Mike got the Scout for his
"storage" fees since the insurance company didn't want to tow it back to
Billings.

Dang.. damage.. but then my friend had warned me of this..

I just happen to have a front clip on my racer chassis that's serviceable
(dents in the fenders, but they're solid and mostly in-shape) that I was
going to toss into my scrap pile anyhow.. along with the radiator core
supports and all that stuff.

The good news is.. Mike's assessment - one of the pulleys on the motor is
broken, one body mount is broken, driver's fender, grille, hood, and
radiator core supports are junk. Passenger fender is OK.

So the potential solution is to yank the front clip from the wrecked
Scout and put the clip from the racer on it.. and have a serviceable Scout.

Oh yeah, the other details, right?

'74 Scout II with Dana 44s, 345V8, T18 4spd. Price?... $300.

I may be a nice guy and sell it to a friend that's in the market..

One more Scouter in the 4x4 club.. or a 5th Scout for me.. maybe even
make it a suitable "runner"!

Wait'll I tell the landlady.. <VBG>
