I know offset dowel pins are available from Lakewood Ind. When I swapped in a
Lakewood bellhousing and Richmond Gear 5 Speed into my '70 Z-28 I took the
time to check the bellhousing alignment and it turned out to be dead on. The
Lakewood instructions specifically stated to check the alignment to prevent
premature pilot bushing, and input-shaft bearing wear. Of course, being a
speed freak I was more worried about having everything perfect so I could make
full-throttle power shifts.
