Re: FW: Tranny rebuilds

In a brilliant stroke of genius, "Hitchcox, Ken" <ken.hitchcox@domain.elided>
blurted out:

>So the only reason to replace the Torque converter is because of

Sure sounds that way to me! I mean, you can't open the thing up or take it
apart, so how can it really be "rebuilt"??? *Maybe* they stick it on a
machine which pumps solvent through it and tests it somehow?

>What did I get when I got a
>rebuilt converter? Just a very clean one?

Yes... if your lucky! Or else you got one they paid $50.00 for at a
wrecking yard and they cleaned it out by hand using kerosene.

Either way I smell a ripoff... unless you really have a broken torque
converter and need a replacement.

>Are there any major components that wear out and need replacement? Like
>pumps or?

The torque convertor is the pump.

Go for it Ken!
